Styrofoam Recycling is In! We here at 3R Technology were excited to learn about a few new local styrofoam recycling operations that just opened in the Puget Sound area. This includes V&G Styro Recycle started by an enterprising and green-minded IKEA employee. All polystyrene 6 (styrofoam), such as found in shipping boxes or those disposable-type coolers will be accepted

E-Cycle Washington Continues to Deliver Success
Miles Kuntz of the WA State Dept. of Ecology reported that collection for the e-Cycle WA program has increased slightly from last year. So far, at the half-way point of the year, volume of collection was at 19 million pounds for 2010, compared to just under 19 million pounds by the end of June in 2009. So, the program continues to successfully recycle the majority of electronics accumulated in Washington that might have otherwise been landfilled! For the complete figures, please go to http://www.ecy.wa.gov/programs/swfa/eproductrecycle/docs/Collections.pdf.

From Poop to Power!
Our hats are off to the hard-working research engineers at Oregon State University. In their recent effort, they've succeeded in extracting 20 times more electricity from raw sewage than in their previous attempts. As of today, nearly 1.5 percent of electricity usage in the US goes towards the treatment of sewage, so this pioneering technology could significantly cut costs. For the complete story, click here...

Spotlight: Small Business Mac Support
A lot of customers ask us if we'll fix their computer, or help out with their network. It's not our mission here at 3R, so this month in our spotlight, we're happy to recommend veteran Apple Consultants Chris Dawe and Shelley Watson of Wheelwrights. They've very friendly and cost-effective, and bring 25 years of Mac business consulting experience to the table! Check out http://www.wheelwrights-llc.com for more info and a no-obligation chat.
