Whew, we're through one month of this new year, and it's already been busy!
If you come down to 3R Technology to drop off recycling or to stop by our retail location, you'll be pleasantly surprised by a few new faces. Camden Trendler joined us in December of 2010 to assist in our shipping department and recycling services. Scott Barker just started this month as our new Operations Manager. Welcome to both! We're sure that both these new additions to our group will continue to help us exceed our customer expectations and improve our operation.
We're seeing lots of positive changes at 3R already this year, and we have more in the works...Stay tuned, and thanks as always, for your support of electronics recycling...

E-Cycle WA 2010 numbers exceed 2009 The E-Cycle Washington program is still just in its infancy having now completed two years of operations. Still, a staggering 78 million pounds of electronics have been collected and recycled, which works out to 5.8 lbs of electronics per person per year, over the last two years.
Totals in 2010 were 39.5 million pounds, just barely edging out the 38.5 million pounds collected in 2009.
A detailed aggregate of the 2010 year-end data can be found on the E-Cycle Washington website.
Public outreach efforts in 2010 by local governments, manufacturers (through the Washington Materials Management & Financing Authority), retailers and the Dept. of Ecology helped to continue to get the word out to Washington residents about this manufacturer funded program resulting in another successful year.
Great work done by everyone involved, especially you - the consumer - to make the program a success!

Maine to Rollback e-Scrap Program? Newly elected Maine Governor Paul LePage has announced a proposed list of drastic budgetary cuts, effectively gutting its environmental and air pollution laws and the possible elimination of the state's electronic waste recycling program.
LePage has proposed eliminating the state's e-scrap recycling law, which covers computers, displays, televisions, AV equipment and other consumer electronics. Governor LePage, and other opponents of the program, argue eliminating the state's extended producer responsibility law would decrease administrative overhead and increase Maine's appeal to electronics manufacturers and retailers.
Maine was the 2nd state in the US to enact e-waste recycling legislation.
