The Story on Glass Recycling
Ever wonder where your glass goes to get recycled, or what it gets remade into?
Locally in the Puget Sound area, most glass bottles collected through waste management companies get re-made into wine bottles at a facility in South Seattle called Verallia. It's owned by the French company Saint-Gobain.
Before that, it's usually sorted at another facility by type and color and ground into a consistent size that is easy to transport and use for remanufacturing.
Recently, The Seattle time published a very insightful article about glass recycling.
In the article, they describe some of the challenges of glass recycling and how reuse still plays a part locally. Currently, mostly glass from bottles is recycled. Some other glass materials can be recycled, but contain contaminants and should not be added to curbside recycling bins. Two companies - Bedrock Industries in Seattle and Trivitro in Kent advertise that they take clean window glass and sometimes other glass for recycling.
Obviously, logistics has a key role. Freight costs and fuel consumption make trucking glass bottles or cullet for recycling cost-prohibitive and more evironmentally detrimental in locations that are remote from processing or recycling centers. In those areas, residents are typically just told to toss their glass bottles in the trash, until the time when a recycling solution can be found.

Losing files on your iPhone?
Sometimes files such as videos or voice memos - particularly ones of unusual length - will 'disappear' from the OS interface. A great tool we found to recover and copy those files over is iPhone Explorer.
