Choose to Reuse

3R Technology and InterConnection launched the CHOOSE TO RE-USE partnership on Jan 1, 2009 in order to encourage the proper reuse of technology that still has years of life left, as an alternative to simply recycling them into raw materials.

Last year, as part of the CHOOSE TO RE-USE partnership, 3R Technology donated 890 computers and monitors for reuse to Interconnection.

The CHOOSE TO RE-USE partnership provides technology access to disadvantaged organizations and communities. Refurbished computers will be made available to technologically underserved communities such as non-profit organizations, schools in the US and abroad, and locally to low income individuals.

We also donated over a hundred working TVs to Sound Mental Health, and new and used furniture and consumer goods to Salvation Army and Sharehouse to assist with their client placement services and reuse programs.

Reuse is more environmentally friendly than recycling. It prevents the need for material and energy consumption in order to make a new product. Reusing just one computer with a CRT monitor saves 147 lbs (17.5 gallons) of water from being polluted, 32 tons of air from being polluted and 1,333 lbs of CO2 from being emitted.
