3R Technology began in 2003 out of a small office in downtown Seattle, providing a much-needed collection point and reuse center for the Take It Back Network of King County. Founder Glen Gaidos realized the need for a service that met the complete electronics recycling needs of small and medium sized businesses, including data destruction, value recovery, and environmentally sound disposition.
In the past 6 years, 3R Technology has recycled tens of thousands of computers, millions of pounds of e-waste, and cleared valuable space in countless offices, server rooms and warehouses. We've also refurbished, donated, and repaired thousands of computers that have found a new life in schools, businesses and homes.
Our primary mission is to encourage reuse, the best form of recycling. We live in a technology-abundant region, where access to information and communication is accepted as a way of life. Our operation has helped redistribute this technology to those who are disadvantaged, looking for inexpensive access, or simply seeking to extend the life of their equipment.
Growing demand for our services has meant growth in space and staff. In 2007, we added IT asset management services to our suite of programs. In the same year, we expanded to our current facility just south of downtown Seattle, adding additional capacity to our recycling, refurbishment, and retail operations. Beginning in 2009, a portion of our profits have gone to support a few select local non-profits that we are particularly inspired by.
3R Technology is an R2-certified electronics recycler, authorized collector for the e-Cycle Washington program, and is also an active member of the WRSA, WTIA, and City of Seattle Resource Venture. We are also a preferred partner for nationwide recyclers to assist their customers located in Washington.
